Sculptures: Between Volume, Material and Artistic Expression

Sculpture is a fundamental art form that spans the centuries and artistic movements, offering a unique visual and tactile experience. Through the interplay of volumes, textures and materials, it interacts with light, space and the viewer's perceptions. Whether in bronze, steel, resin, ceramic or stone, each sculpture expresses a singular vision, moving between abstraction and figuration, monumentality and intimacy. It shapes not only its own space but also the environment that houses it, becoming an anchor point for the eye.

At Galerie 125, we have brought together an eclectic selection of artists, each developing a sculptural language of their own. Among them, César Baldaccini and Arman, major figures of Nouveau Réalisme, revolutionised sculpture by moving beyond traditional techniques. While César works with the compression of materials to create compacted forms, Arman explores the concept of accumulation, freezing everyday objects to give them a new sculptural life.

The exploration of form and movement is also at the heart of the work of Raymond Moretti. His sculptures, marked by vibrant energy and dynamic lines, seem to capture a moment frozen in time, where the material becomes almost fluid. In a more urban approach, M.Chat and Invader anchor Street Art in the world of sculpture by giving a physical presence to their icons. M.Chat transposes his famous mischievous yellow cat into three dimensions, giving it a new dynamism, while Invader extends his pixelated aesthetic into three dimensions, playing on the viewer's perception and the fusion of the real and the virtual.

The world of Pop Art and playfulness also finds an echo in the works of Claude Gilli and Patrick Moya. Gilli, with his colourful, streamlined forms, plays with light and space to create works that are both accessible and deeply artistic. Moya, for his part, appropriates the codes of pop culture and the digital world and reinvents them in sculptural form, oscillating between irony and fascination with the technological age.

Finally, some sculptures draw their strength from a more classical and narrative approach, as in the work of Louis Toffoli. His work, marked by a subtle interplay of light and transparency, takes on a rare sculptural dimension with a bronze piece depicting a farrier, a tribute to scenes of daily life and the trades of yesteryear.
