Description
In The boats, Bernard Gantner offers us a poetic and melancholic vision of a harbour landscape where time seems suspended. Through a subtle mastery of the line and shades of grey, the artist composes a scene of great serenity, where water, skies and stone dialogue in perfect harmony. The attention to detail, especially in delicately sketched fringes and soft architectures, gives this work an impression of timelessness, close to Japanese prints.
The immobility of the boats, gently moored at the shore, contrasts with the imperceptible movement of the birds that quietly animate the sky.
