LEBADANG (Leba Dang) was born in Vietnam in 1921, immigrated to France in 1939 to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse. His first personal exhibition took place in Paris in 1950. Lebadang is internationally recognized for its fusion of the cultural influences of Europe and the East through a personal poetic vision in painting, watercolour, sculpture and engraving. Lebadang is recognized as one of the most talented engravers in the world. He uses paper to communicate his artistic vision. Many works combine the techniques of engraving, embossing, lithography and screen printing. He practically reinvented these processes to obtain a grace and simplicity of the work executed in infinite variations of the line, shapes and colors. These works combine the essences of sculpture, painting and embossing into an art form. Lebadang has exhibited in many personal exhibitions around the world. His work became widely exhibited in the United States after his personal exhibition at the Cincinnati Museum of Art in 1966. He has received numerous international awards. An international prize was named in honour of Lebadang for people around the world who have reached a level of peace in their personal and professional achievements.
