Walter SPITSER (1927) was a universally recognized painter and sculptor. He also illustrated the works of Joseph Kessel, Jean-Paul Sartre, Henri de Montherlant, André Malraux and Nikos Kazandzakis. Deported at the age of 16, he dedicated part of his carved and painted work to testify: he created, among other things, the memorial of the Veldiv raid opened in July 1994 in Paris. He is also the author of a wax bronze exhibited at the Buchenwald Museum and representing a so-called "Muslim" deportee. (extract from www.guysen.com)
