VIEILLEVIE Gérard
Gérard VIELLEVIE was born a French painter, born in La Queue Les Yvelines, near Paris in 1939. He studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. A classical student and former student of the renowned National High School of Decorative Artists in Paris, he is inspired by the art of post-impressionists and creates sculptures and mosaics based on his inherent interest in this style. He started making bas-reliefs, sculptures and frescoes for many schools and town halls in cities such as Paris, Cannes, Strasbourg, Lille and Saint-Tropez, which now exist in many hotels in these cities. He was close to the painter Paul Aizpiri.
True to the tradition of the main post-impressionist painters such as Van Gogh, Vieillevie's work is composed of still lifes, lush gardens and flora. His work was exhibited in Paris, Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul, and he received the gold medal of the International Lion's Club for painting (1974). He died in 1992. In the posthumous period, in 1993, he was given an important exhibition at the Katia Granoff gallery.
