Description
With "La Locomotive", William Deliège continues his joyful and colourful exploration of the railway world, delivering a vibrant scene where nostalgia and malice mix. Made in original lithography on vellum paper in size 50 x 60 cm (not 50 x 6, no doubt a shell), the work presents a lively station dock, dominated by an imposing red locomotive with white and dancing smoke. The artist's naive style, with its frank lines and bright colours, gives the scene a childish vitality, almost festive. Everything here breathes the charm of a world where the train is not just a means of transport, but an object of fascination and dream.
Deliège composes his image as a theatre scene: the rails organize in running lines, guiding the gaze towards the center, where energy and movement are concentrated. Colourful houses border the decor, characters turn on or watch, and many small details (cards, signals, luggage) enrich reading. Numbered and signed in pencil, this work evokes childhood memories related to stations, waiting, engine noise and steam whistling. A celebration of the Dantan journey, interpreted with the lightness of a tender and staggered look.
