Certified work.
After the success of his Factory Editions, Andy Warhol collaborates in 1970 with a Belgian printing for a new series of prints, playing voluntarily with the idea of mass production. The "Fill in Your Own Signature" buffer emphasizes this ironic approach, questioning the notion of uniqueness and hierarchy between the works. The first black ink prints, today very rare, have largely disappeared over time. Since the end of the 1990s, Sunday B. Morning has again published these emblematic images, always printed in Belgium according to the original and identifiable process through their stamping on the back.
This screen printing from the series Flowers pay tribute to one of the most iconic works of Pop Art. With Sunday Flower 72, Andy Warhol continues to explore the repetitive and stylized beauty of nature, capturing here four bright flowers with yellow and pale tones, sharp on a deep black background. The effect is powerful, almost hypnotic, reinforcing the ambivalence between floral delicacy and graphic radical.
Edited by Sunday B. Morning, this print at large square format of 91 x 91 cm faithfully takes the characteristics of the factory editions. The back side of the famous blue ink buffer "to complete with your signature" and "published by Sunday B. Morning", a direct wink to the Warhol's desire to question the value of originality in art. These impressions, designed in collaboration with a Belgian printing house in the 1970s, embody his provocative idea: art, like culture, is reproducible - and that is precisely what makes its strength.
