Description
This original lithograph created in 1958, entitled Les Parisiennes, perfectly illustrates the universe of Bernard Buffet. It features two female faces, rendered with his distinctive and expressive style. In the background, the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower and the Parisian rooftops immediately create an urban, almost silent atmosphere. The composition is based on a play of intersecting lines and strong contrasts, providing rhythm while maintaining a certain restraint. The faces, both elegant and distant, exude a strong presence, typical of Buffet's approach to his subjects. Printed on BFK Rives vellum paper, this lithograph benefits from a high-quality support known for its finesse and durability. The copy is numbered and hand-signed by the artist, confirming its authenticity. The work is also listed in the catalogue raisonné of Bernard Buffet under number 19, an important detail for accurately placing this piece within his body of work. With its dimensions of 70.5 x 49 cm, it easily fits into various interior settings and reflects a significant period in Bernard Buffet's work, between the representation of the female figure and the evocation of Paris.
