FANJUL Claire - Screen printing "Composition" 50x50cm - 2026

With this astonishing Composition, Claire Fanjul takes us into a teeming universe, halfway between a cabinet of curiosities, imaginary cartography, and a fantastical tale. On a pristine white background, a multitude of islets seem to float in an undefined space, populated by hybrid creatures, lush vegetation, unusual constructions, and familiar objects repurposed from their original function. Fabulous animals, miniature architectures, robots, mountains, and marine creatures coexist in a skillfully orchestrated disorder. The eye freely roams between these fragmented territories, discovering at each turn an unexpected detail, an enigmatic scene, or a humorous association. Executed exclusively in black, this screen print reveals the full finesse of Claire Fanjul's drawing, whose hatching, dots, and variations in density compose an extraordinary richness of textures. The absence of color enhances the graphic precision and gives this imaginary geography an almost encyclopedic dimension, evoking both ancient engravings and illustrations from exploration narratives.

Claire Fanjul's artistic universe is distinguished by an overflowing imagination and a pronounced taste for meticulous compositions, in which the marvelous invites itself into the heart of everyday life. Her graphic language, nourished by illustration, comic strips, and the aesthetics of engraving, sometimes recalls the fantastical worlds of Hieronymus Bosch or the poetic inventions of the surrealists, while maintaining a resolutely contemporary identity. In this work, each element seems to belong to a particular story, but together they form a coherent territory of which the viewer becomes the explorer. This freedom of interpretation is precisely one of the composition's great qualities: it never reveals all its secrets at first glance and invites renewed contemplation. Printed on high-quality pure cotton paper and limited to only 60 copies, this screen print will appeal to lovers of contemporary drawing, unique universes, and narrative works. Its square format of 50 × 50 cm, combined with the timeless elegance of black and white, makes it a particularly interesting piece for a contemporary interior, where its graphic richness is sure to spark curiosity.
