Toru Iwaya is an artist, who has been working exclusively black since 1972. The black way is a soft-cut printing technique, which requires enormous patience and time. As you can imagine, it is difficult to persevere in this technique in this modern era where things change so quickly. Despite the number of events the artist met, he worked in the same studio in Paris for 28 years, which led to the completion of more than 150 black works. Most of these works are black ways of small and medium-sized enterprises. The characteristic of its printing color is that all engraved coppers (the colors, as well as the main base) are made in black technique. Very few artists still adhere to this traditional practice. The most notable feature of his work is the production of the series of masks composed of more than 30 works (20 of 30 are large).
