Annie Retivat was born in Paris in 1946. She studied at the Ecole d'Arts appliqués in Paris and worked as a designer and illustrator after her studies. Finally, she explored painting and became completely dedicated to the medium. The subjects of loneliness, time, intimacy and space are examined in the works of Annie Retivat. She captures a kingdom of infinity, the endless atmospheres of earth and sky, or the sea swallows her mystical and romantic female figures. Retivat's paintings were first exhibited at the Contemporary Gallery in Geneva in 1973. Since then, she has exhibited her works in prestigious galleries, including the Naifs and Primitives Gallery in Paris and in exhibitions in New York and Washington.
