RADFORD Robert
Robert RADFORD is a painter born in 1946 in Guadeloupe. He lives and works in the Var. The Vaudou is a force that has federated and still federate the people of the Caribbean, a Gregorian working as a circle of Union going far beyond the present and the place. As Daniel Supplice explains "The Haitian Vaudou is doing well as a culture of resistance and instrument of memory". He is the inspiring source that allowed Robert Radford to bring about an intimate world, a world populated by his fears, his successive exiles lived as so many departures from Eden and to reborn to himself after a "Provencal embolism". His new canvases, neither abstract nor narrative, are charged with emotion, light and transparency, "introducing enough blueness to make the air feel" as Cézanne said. Its colours are honey, sugar and heart-heating rum dear to its tastes. He makes us travel towards these collective dreams sipmed with sun, desires, light, winds, sprays, storms and freedom. Present and Past are confused, in the same vertigo of Love offered during the creative moment and given in sharing.
