Description
Realized in 1982, this original lithograph of Bernard Buffet, entitled The hulot, is among the most emblematic works of its series devoted to animals. On an ocher yellow background, the artist represents a nicely piercing gaze, drawn up on a branch, with his characteristic linear and incisive style.
On vellum paper, in size 58 x 76 cm, this work is numbered and signed in pencil by Bernard Buffet. It is referenced in the catalog reasoned, volume 2, n ° 401, confirming its authenticity and its place in the official corpus of the artist.
Powerful hatches and marked shadows give the animal an almost sculptural presence. By the contrast between the rigor of the drawing and the simplicity of the bottom, buffet manages to express at the same time the strength and the fragility of its subject.
Authentic and certified work, The hulot Illustrates Bernard Buffet's talent to grasp the essence of living with a means of means and a unique intensity. A striking piece, representative of the French graphic art of the twentieth century. Available on Galerie125.
