Description
This original screen print by Shepard Fairey, titled Rise Above Rose Geometric (2022), continues the tradition of the most emblematic works of the American artist, in which symbolism, commitment and graphic power combine with remarkable visual impact. At the centre of the composition stands a full-blown rose, a timeless symbol of hope, resistance and renewal, surrounded by a ribbon bearing the inscription "Rise Above", a true invitation to overcome obstacles and divisions.
The rose, rendered in a style inspired by engraving and the propaganda posters of the 20th century, rises above a stylised hand that seems to support and protect it. The geometric shapes, dynamic diagonals and the signature palette of Shepard Fairey, blending intense red, pale blue, black and cream, create a balanced and instantly recognisable composition. Here the artist combines natural and graphic elements to convey a universal message of resilience, progress and personal uplift.
Created in 2022, this screen print on paper, measuring 61 x 30.5 cm, is signed, numbered and dated in pencil by the artist. Its vertical format heightens the sense of ascent evoked by the title and reinforces the monumental presence of the rose. Highly appreciated by lovers of contemporary street art and collectors of the Obey universe, Rise Above Rose Geometric perfectly illustrates Shepard Fairey's ability to transform simple symbols into powerful images carrying a positive and timeless message. This work is a particularly appealing piece within his recent output, combining graphic aesthetics, commitment and universal reach.
