Description
"Flower Power (Blue)" by Shepard Fairey (OBEY), made in 2021, is a screen printing on speckletone thick cream paper with a size of 61 x 46 cm. This work represents a transmission tower from which emerges a colored flower in vibrant shades of red, blue and yellow, creating a striking visual contrast between the metal structure of the tower and the natural and floral element. The composition emphasizes a balance between industrialization and organic beauty, a recurring theme in the work of Fairey.
The use of red and yellow colour on blue background accentuates the impact of the work, symbolizing both power and hope. The floral motif, although stylized, echoes concepts of peace and social change, in line with the aesthetics and political messages often associated with the artist's work. Numbered, dated and signed in pencil by the artist, this screen printing echoes the unique visual universe of OBEY, where pop culture and street visual elements are used to provoke and question contemporary society.
