Emilio Grau-Sala, the Sweetness of Parisian Life

Born in Barcelona in 1911 into an artistic family and passing away in the same city in 1975, Emilio Grau-Sala was a Catalan painter, illustrator, and lithographer of the École de Paris. He exhibited at the age of nineteen, then left Spain in 1936, at the onset of the civil war, to settle in France.

Paris in Celebration

Theaters, cafes, public gardens, social scenes, horse races, and Norman landscapes: Grau-Sala captures the sweetness of life with a vivid yet never aggressive palette, supple contours, and post-impressionist grace. A highly sought-after illustrator, he adorned numerous luxury editions.
