Description
With Femme de profil (rouge), Jean Jansem delivers a work where color is as important as the drawing. The female silhouette, depicted in profile and wearing a scarf, appears suspended in a space entirely dominated by shades of red, orange, and pink, giving the composition its full personality.
The face is treated with great economy of means. A few lines are enough to draw the expression and suggest a presence. This apparent simplicity is one of the strengths of Jansem's work, which often favors suggestion over demonstration. The character seems absorbed in thoughts, far from any anecdote or staging.
The richness of this lithograph also lies in its material work. The overlapping colors, transparency effects, and more textured areas create a vibrant background that contrasts with the delicacy of the drawing. The whole exudes a warm and timeless atmosphere that immediately captures the eye.
This work bears witness to Jean Jansem's constant interest in portraits and isolated figures. The artist is not trying to represent a specific model but rather to capture an attitude, a presence, and an emotion. This approach gives his compositions a universal dimension that continues to appeal to modern art enthusiasts.
This original lithograph on vellum paper, measuring 74 x 52 cm, is an artist's proof (EA) signed in pencil by the artist. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
With its elegant format, vibrant palette, and characteristic drawing, Femme de profil (rouge) is a beautiful illustration of Jean Jansem's talent and his unique approach to the female portrait.
